About Adam

Adam Lapsevich is a seasoned sales, marketing, and travel industry professional with a career spanning more than three decades. He has worked in the travel industry since 1991 and founded SpoonDrawer in 2006 after a long and successful career in cruise line sales, where he partnered closely with travel agencies as a Regional Sales Manager for several premium and luxury cruise brands, including Cunard Line and Seabourn Cruise Line.

The Cruise Line Years

Adam began his travel career onboard cruise ships in 1991 as an entertainer, serving as the ship’s DJ aboard Royal Caribbean’s Nordic Empress. In 1992, he was selected to assist with the launch of a newly formed cruise line, Celebrity Cruises. He was flown to Germany to support the inaugural season of Celebrity’s second ship, Zenith, where he built the ship’s entire music library and served as disc jockey during its first year in service.

He later worked onboard vessels for Norwegian, Costa, and Carnival Cruise Line before transitioning shoreside into sales during the 1990s.

In 1996, Adam returned to his hometown near Cleveland and advanced into senior sales leadership roles with Royal Olympic Cruises and Premier Cruise Line. He later joined Cunard Line and Seabourn Cruise Line, where he held a highly respected sales position and played a role in the historic launch of Queen Mary 2 in 2004.

While in outside sales with Cunard and Seabourn, Adam managed a large territory that included five U.S. states and all of Eastern Canada. He worked closely with luxury travel agencies in affluent markets such as Toronto, Montreal, Cleveland, Detroit, Nashville, and Indianapolis, helping agencies grow their high-end clientele through strategic positioning, education, and relationship-driven sales.

Launching SpoonDrawer

Initially as a creative outlet, Adam taught himself web design and development and built his first website in 2003. Following changes in sales territories after the merger of Cunard Line with Princess Cruises under the Carnival Corporation umbrella, Adam was offered relocation but chose instead to leave the cruise industry and launch his own marketing firm.

In 2006, he officially founded SpoonDrawer Media Group, leveraging his deep agency relationships to create a web design and marketing agency focused exclusively on travel professionals. Within its first year, SpoonDrawer established preferred partnerships with Signature Travel Network, Virtuoso, Ensemble, MAST, Cruise Planners, and other leading consortia.

In 2010, he created a webinar series titled The Travel Agent Crash Course in Online Marketing, which ran through 2013 and helped advisors better understand digital strategy, branding, and website effectiveness. His work gained industry-wide recognition, leading to features in Travel Weekly and speaking engagements with ASTA (American Society of Travel Advisors), and NACTA at national conferences. Adam’s marketing expertise, industry insight, and engaging personality quickly positioned him as a sought-after speaker and educator.

As demand grew, Adam expanded his speaking engagements to include conferences for Signature Travel Network, Ensemble, MAST, Cruise Planners, ASTA, NACTA, and a variety of non-travel industry events. His most recent appearances include the ASTA Travel Advisor Conference in Salt Lake City in 2025, San Juan in 2023, and San Francisco in 2022.

Commitment to Travel Advisors

In 2025 Adam rebranded SpoonDrawer Media into SpoonDrawer Creative, and in 2026 introduced a focused initiative dedicated to building travel agency websites for serious advisors and agency owners. This approach emphasizes positioning expertise, experience, and professional guidance at the forefront of an agency’s website, rather than relying on supplier-driven content, promotions, or generic destination information. Adam is deeply committed to working with professionals who understand the value of their knowledge and experience, and who recognize that a well-designed website should reinforce credibility, authority, and long-term business growth rather than simply list deals travelers can find anywhere online.

Personal Life

Outside of work, Adam is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys running, lifting, and swimming, which helps balance his passion for gourmet cooking and creative entertaining.

He is an advocate for animal rescue and shares his home with two Pomeranians, Petula and Butchie, and his husband of 32 years, Tom. Petula is a registered therapy dog who visits patients at Cleveland’s University Hospitals. She loves children and has brought smiles to hundreds of kids, patients, and staff over the years.

Adam is an avid traveler who in late 2025 returned from a three-week journey through Southeast Asia, adding five new countries to his travels and bringing his lifetime total to 69 and counting.
